Notable:
Terunofuji (Y1e) remained undefeated with a straightforward win over Meisei (S1w), while Takakeisho (O1e) and Abi (M15w) both won to remain one match behind at 11-1. Takakeisho meets Abi tomorrow. Everyone else is, for all practical purposes, out of contention.

Quotable:
Chris Sumo Youtube:
"I want him to be braver, and to become a lone wolf, completely driven towards and focused on his own success. He's got Yokozuna blood in him. He's got to be greedy for wins.
68th Yokozuna Asashoryu , after watching his nephew Hoshoryu (M5w) (5-7) blasted out of the dohyo (ring) by Daieisho (M1e), who is also having a sub-par (5-7) Basho.
"There's no stopping Tamawashi once he gets those pushes in. So I felt that if I got the jump on him, things could flow nicely from there."
Abi, on his convincing win over Tamawashi, which kept him in 2nd place at 11-1. Tamawashi (M6w) dropped to 9-3.
"I'm just doing what I do in training."
Takakeisho, one of many Rikishi of few words, deconstructing his demolition of Takaysu (M5e).
Kyodo News:
"I tried (last tournament) to return to sanyaku (Top Rank), but it somehow didn't come together. This time, it's been different. I guess if I win, I'm in with a chance. I'll just keep doing my best."
Takanosho (M2w) on achieving his Kachi-koshi (winning score) with a win over Onosho (M2e) 4-8. The win gives Takanosho an excellent chance to regain his san'yaku ranking.
